Rollergirls Carwash and Baked Sale a Success!
On a sunny saturday in July the Appalachian rollergirls(ARG) washed cars and sold baked goods at Peabodys Wine and beer in Boone NC. Their slogan was "Help us help others." ARG is a non-profit 501c3 and the last two home bouts the team has chosen local families who are struggling with illness and financial hardships as a result.
"We have to raise a little bit of money to put our bouts together, so we can then raise money for others. Playing derby has really brought me closer to my community and more aware of local happenings." said Doc Holidaze aka Corey Holiday, ARG skater.

Most recently, the Appalachian Rollergirls were special guests at Speakeasy Tattoo's Fundraiser event this past Saturday on St. Patrick's Day. This was the 4th Annual Free Shamrock Tattoo Giveaway and public donations were requested to raise money for local elementary schools' art programs. Speakeasy Tattoo raised $3757 after a long day of tattooing over 150 people. The funds raised were dispersed among 6 local elementary schools. Owner of Speakeasy Tattoo, Greg Kinnamon asked the Rollergirls to attend to keep up the morale of the customers waiting for their Shamrock Tattoo. The Rollergirls skated around the tattoo parlor, offering merchandise and camaraderie for those waiting in the long lines. "It was a fun and different way to raise money for the local schools! I really enjoyed it and hope we can be special guests next year!" said Mason Camp-Herman, a rollergirl and local business owner of Muscle Works Massage. In addition, the Appalachian Rollergirls Team donated 20% percent of their merchandise sales to the elementary school art program fund.
